Just writing and geeking out...
I'm still alive. If you call this living. Which I tend to.

I've taken up editing/rewriting large portions of my past short stories. My first project is my first science fiction story about the space pirates, specifically the one from whom my LJ name is taken. I wrote it years ago, and suffice it to say, it needs some work. Some portions need some powerful reworking and others need cutting. The characters remain about the same, though some tweaks have been made, I think for the better. I managed to get a few pages done in a week's time, but I've taken the weekend off.

I never did get my submitted poetry published in the Hudson Review, but I plan to submit to Ploughshares, nevertheless. Some time later I will also submit to the Connecticut Review. I need to polish some of the more recent works ("Flavor of Hate" and "Urania is Bacchus" come to mind) to get them in shape for submission. Right now I have a collection of what I believe to be eighteen or nineteen ready poems. I'm hoping somebody out there will agree.

On the anime front, I'm interested in the announcement that Studio Bones will be working on a new Fullmetal Alchemist series, possibly more in tuned with the manga than the previous one. Though I always preferred the anime to the drawn-out manga, I'd still watch this new one. If it's continuing from where the movie left off, I'm not sure it'll really have much to work with. I'm still catching up with Macross Frontier and enjoy it quite a bit. I recently finished the first half boxset of the first season of Shin Chan, Funimation's version of Crayon Shin-chan. It's a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. Hey, Monica Rial is involved. I can't be held responsible.

Speaking of English voice actresses for anime dubs, a while back I constructed what I thought would be a solid dub cast for Gundam 00. With the real cast being leaked a little at a time, I haven't been having much luck matching up (I still think Brad Swaile should be Ribbons, not Setsuna... it keeps with the Amuro joke... though being Setsuna keeps in with the Light Yagami joke). Anyway, that is until today! I correctly predicted Lisa Anne Beley as Sumeragi Li Noriega! You might remember that she was Murrue Ramius in the Gundam SEED and SEED Destiny dubs and Relena in Gundam Wing).

On the comic strip front, ehhh. I've not done a damn thing lately. Maybe after I'm done posting all this background for Penguin Chronicles on the OR LJ thingie, I'll get to it.

Anyway... uh, later! :D
